Brief Description: This course is designed to introduce the participants to the topics from discrete mathematics that are relevant to study of computer science. The topics covered include but not limited to binary and hexadecimal number systems, sets, logic and truth tables, functions and relations, combinations, permutations and counting techniques, elementary probability and statistics, recurrence relations.
Other notes: This is fundamental background course for most of the advanced computer science topics. A grade of 'C' or better is required for this course to count as a prerequisite for Computer Science Department courses.
