Communication Skills and Ethics for Computer Science

Course Description:

This course is a comprehensive introduction to writing, speaking, and interpersonal communications that is relevant to computer science profession. Course begins with scholarly analysis, evaluation, and sourcing of research material as well as hands on media literacy. Attention will be given to deepening appreciation of ethical concerns. We then turn to design and development of a sound technical manuscript such as a software manual. Multiple public and business speaking and active listening sessions will promote effective professional delivery and exchange. Individual activities and projects are an integral part of this course.

Objective: The course examines effective communication and ethics in contemporary computer science settings.

Course administration and grading. The course will be run as a regular lecture class with six home works (10 points each) and six presentations (5 points each), and five in class quizzes (2 points each).
