Computer Security-Hexmoor

A broad overview of the principles, mechanisms, and implementations of computer security. Topics include cryptography, web security, certificates, email security, wireless security, VPN and firewalls, intrusion detection, access control, user authentication, biometrics, software security and malware. Assignments will include practical tools and programming.

The course will offer skills to (a) understand the needs and methods for computer security.

Course administration and grading. The course will be run as a regular lecture class with four home works (15 points each); one project (20 points), oen open topiv presentation (20 points), two in class presentations or tests (10 points each). Teaming is enouraged for projects and open topic presentations.

Who should attend and prerequisites. We welcome advanced CS graduate students with some mathematical maturity. Senior undergraduate CS students who have taken CS330 with a grade of C or better are also welcome. A term project is an integral part of this course for all srtudents.
