A Red, Red Rose
Robert Burns
-------------------------

O my luve's like a red, red rose,
That's newly spung in June:
O my luve's like the melodie
That's sweetly play'd in tune.

As fair art thou, my bonie lass,
So deep in luve am I;
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
Till a' the seas gang dry.

Till a' the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wi' the sun:
And I will luve the still, my dear,
While the sands o' life shall run.

And fare thee weel, my only luve!
And fare thee weel awhile!
And I will come again, my luve,
Tho' it were ten thousand mile!

For more fun, realize that the meter of this poem exactly matches that of the song Auld Lang Sine. This is no coincidence. Robert Burns also wrote Auld Lang Sine (though was not the composer of the music, to the best of my knowledge).

For even more fun, when they're playing Auld Lang Sine, for instance, at New Year's Eve parties, just sing this poem as the lyrics.

Confusion is fun.
